Repairing the Mind-Body Connection After Trauma

Trauma is the response to an experience or event that results in emotional, psychological, and/or physical distress. Consequently, many survivors of trauma experience symptoms long after the event has passed. Depending on the severity or impact of the trauma, one may experience intense symptoms, such as disassociation, intrusive thoughts, trouble with sleep, emotional outbursts, persistent anxiety, hypervigilance, depression, and substance use. Since the body often disconnects from the pain and distressing symptoms, reconnecting the mind and body may feel like a shock and, for some, utterly impossible. Therefore, reawakening the connection between the two is essential to the healing journey. If you would like more information on repairing the mind-body connection, contact us to learn more.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery

Are you concerned that someone in your life is a narcissist? A narcissist can be a romantic partner, family member, friend, or co-worker. Here are common characteristics we see in narcissist individuals: lack of empathy, arrogance, entitlement, grandiosity, and a tendency to manipulate and/or exploit others to get what they want. Victims/survivors of narcissistic abuse often feel a distortion of their reality, loss of self-esteem, decrease in confidence, hypervigilance, and as though they are “walking on eggshells.” Gaslighting is a tactic often used by the narcissist to have the victim question their reality; they often find themselves in a loop of self-doubt and, in severe cases, questioning their own sanity. If you are experiencing narcissistic abuse or would like tools to set boundaries with someone with narcissistic traits, let us help you begin the process of healing.
